Crystal Castles, YOU LOVE HER COZ SHE'S DEAD

Everybody knows Crystal Castles already.
Courtship Dating
Knights
Crimewave
Klaxons - Antlantis to Interzone (Crystal Castles Remix)
BTW, there is this chiptune duo YOU LOVE HER COZ SHE'S DEAD which to most people sounds like Crystal Castles, but hate being compared to CC. So I am intentionally mentioning them together.

So they're more chiptune based plus a not as screamy girl vocal.
Many don't undertstand why it's CC that's getting all the hype but not the others. The point is exactly because CC is not as chiptuney as them.

Simian Mobile Disco

Simian Mobile Disco.
Hrmmm, so they were Simian, which had a song that is mixed by Justice.

I Believe, vocal by their former groupmate Simon Lord

Love, vocal by Barry Dobbin

Erlend Oye, Kings of Convenience

This is not about the typical acoustic Kings-of-Convenience-ish Erlend Oye, but more the downtempo electronic side.
Sudden Rush
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M6Ym6yMY0c (also, the remix by the twelves)

Phonique - For The Time Being ft. Erlend Oye (and another track with Phonique, Fine Day)
And of course all his collaborations with Royksopp, like Poor Leno.

As for Kings of Convenience,
Little Kids (Ladytron remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz9FfPXA_5o Very ladytron-ish synth flood.
Gold for the Price of Silver (Erot Collaboration)
No youtube links.

The Whitest Boy Alive is way out. :\

Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun consists of two weird guys with weird clothes doing weird pose in weird videos. But that doesn't mean you should think about MGMT, okay? Stop mentioning MGMT, people.

Their coming second single We Are the People is way better than their hyped first single Walking on a Dream.

Though it has an acoustic intro, it's actually full of synth, so don't get scared off. What's so great is that dejected feeling of Luke Steele and the falsetto chorus.

We Are the People

Empire Of The Sun - We Are The People (Ted & Francis remix), a mix that is more downtempo and mellow.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNsnKycMfCE

PNAU

I think the name stands for Peter mayes, Nick littlemore, AUstralia.
With You Forever give an unique feeling of a powerless outcry, an exhaustive appeal, like asking for something that won't be reached.
Vocal by Luke Steele, who form Empire of the Sun with Nick Littlemore, so this is like a pilot-Empire of the Sun. The track is also picked by Kitsune on their Kitsune Maison Vol.6.
Also good from PNAU, Embrace ft. Ladyhawke, and Bloodlust of the previous album. No youtube version could be found, however.

Random fact: Nick Littlemore has this strange tendency to get topless. Check out the photos, videos and lives of Teenager(former band with Ladyhawke), PNAU, Empire of the Sun. So if you think his EOTS-weirdness is marketing effort, maybe that's the real him.

Midnight Juggernauts

Midnight Juggernauts excels in both their originals, which usually have a slow vocal coupled with a fast beat, melodic synth and their remixes, also full of synth.
Their album Dystopia is very consistent. Chances are if you like any one of the song on the album, you would at least like 6 more songs on the album, so, buy it!
For something dancey, Tombstone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvDuwvHmUuc
For something slow, Twenty Thousand Leagues.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOCE2SUZAEE (fan made video, so skip to 0:25, and the bass are )

Junior Boys

Junior Boys. Most of their songs are slow, downtempo electro-pop.

Best song comes from the first album Last Exit. Obviously slow and sorrow with a gloomy vocal on some dominatingly moody synth

Röyksopp new track "Happy Birthday" released

NOW (10:35am GMT)
MP3 (320kbps whoa!) or WAV (whoa whoa! who release .wav these days?)

Okay guys, go go go, straight to their website and download it immediately!
http://royksopp.com/

(13:05pm GMT) Their site is down, hopefully because of too many trying to download? I have uploaded my copy to MediaFire.

My preliminary comment of the track. It is great, except for the ever repeating low-pitched "happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday.." through out the song. If you filter it out with your mind, you get those rich arrangement of unhurried synth, mild beat, scattered dreamy bit and occasional higher-pitched-echoy vocal that are more typical of Röyksopp. I hope they release a version with less "happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday... ", oh and without the 10 seconds mute at the end.

Also, I have received information that the main website will hopefully be up before Christmas. Let's get slightly excited about it, but don't be tooooo excited, given their track record of delay :\
In the end, Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Happy Birthday to Röyksopp!

Happy Birthday Röyksopp!

NEWS FROM THE FRONT!
After a year of silence and rumors, Röyksopp are finally back. The official site, facebook and myspace have all been updated, most importantly with a 40-second teaser mp3. It is really a teaser, as the only bit that starts to feel like OMG-YES-THIS-IS-RöYKSOPP is at the exact last second of the non-silence part.

The whole theme is "To celebrate the birthday of Röyksopp on 15th December" and they will release a full track named "Happy Birthday" on that day. Rumor was that the album was already ready in May 08, was EMI Norway intentionally pushing it back til now to match this gimmick? Or did the folding of Quart messed up the marketing campaign? Or that Röyksopp and EMI Norway had finally reached a compromise to release it before the whole world are too dirt poor to buy an album?

Other facts regarding the recent Röyksopp:
-Robyn confirmed that she sang on a track in the new Röyksopp album.
>>> http://www.nomusicmedia.com/2008/12/08/robyn-confirmed-for-the-enigma-that-is-royksopps-third-album/ (08th December 2008)

- Röyksopp played two new songs, I Wanna Know, Korene in a live show.
>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfCify50bEY (October 2007)

- The vocal in the live Korene was Lykke Li.
>>> As for this one, that's just what everyone was saying on the forums.
However, I found something related. http://www.nrk.no/lydverket/en-vat-lykke-li-drom/#more-6237 (11th December 2008)
At the bottom, it wrote "Röyksopps kommende album (mars 2009) "
The video on the article itself is titled, Lykke Li om livet, samarbeidet med Röyksopp og om Robyn. "samarbeidet med Röyksopp" means collaboration with Röyksopp, according to Google translation.

Something interesting about Youtube, searching "Royksopp Lykke Li" would give result you won't be getting with "Royksopp". This is ridiculous as it seems to be a superset but actually not. That would also means you would be missing something for sure, as you won't know what additional keywords you have to add.

Röyksopps終於有動靜喇,期待12月15號佢地會放首歌出黎
而家睇緊應該09年3月出碟...足足delay一年

Van She

Van She comes from Australia, signed to Modular, which automatically means they are great. They are also famous for their remix act Van She Tech.

Anyway, most of their songs are fast electro pop, especially their singles. But their best song is So High on the album, V.
So High is a mellowly sad track. It's fast yet sorrow. Like a party for a terminal cancer patient, everyone's happy and high, but we all know that guy's going to die. It is this ambivalence feeling that makes it so great.
Some other nice tracks would be Temps Mort(would be great if it's a full track), Memory Man, Changes.

So High 亦係用好豐富既人聲同音樂,令你覺得既輕快又黯然.就好似雖然身患絕症,但係照樣起舞高歌,不過暗地裡你仍然記得你得番幾日命既感覺

The Twelves

The Twelves is best known as a great remixer. But their own song When You Talk is even better. A dreamy but subtlely sad synth runs through the whole song with a melancholic vocal giving a overall laid back mood.

When You Talk 憂鬱既人聲撞落夢幻既synth底.明明節奏輕快,但係聽落又好laid-back.
